The Ada 74 ferry can accommodate up to 400 passengers, 15 trucks and 25 cars. It is a joint venture between the TRNC (49%) and Turkey Maritime Enterprises (51%). The purchase of the ferry is the first step in implementing Minister Arykli's ambitious plans to develop and revitalize the long-dormant maritime sector.
In an interview with the press, Minister Arykli noted that the new ferry will serve certain routes between Turkey and the TRNC, and in the near future it is planned to purchase additional vessels to expand transportation opportunities. He also expressed his desire to create competition in the field of sea transportation in order to reduce ticket prices and make them more accessible to passengers.
One of the main goals of the Minister of Arykly is to expand the route network of ferries to serve flights between Famagusta, Izmir and Alanya. This will improve connectivity between Northern Cyprus and neighboring regions, promoting tourism and economic growth in the area.
The purchase of the new Ada 74 ferry and plans for the future acquisition of additional vessels open a new chapter in the history of maritime transport in Northern Cyprus. These initiatives are expected to not only boost the development of transport infrastructure, but also strengthen the region's economic ties with other countries and facilitate the movement of people and goods in this part of the Mediterranean.
